Relaxing ferry ride in the Cardomoms

We have a bit of a different take on riding tours than some of our competitors. We feel Cambodia is extreme enough without wheelieing through villages dodging kids and old folks. Having said that, some of our tours are very gnarly indeed. But instead of a white knucked flat-out race through the landscape we prefer to stop and smell the durian from time to time. It's a beautiful country afterall.

Just For the Guys?

Absolutely not! Backcountry riding is becoming increasingly popular with the gals as well as couples. If you're on the fence deciding whether or not it's for you, why not give it a try?

Custom Tours

Custom tours are available anytime and riding is good year-round. Contact us if you are interested in a personalized unscheduled tour.

Scheduled Tours

We also run scheduled tours for up to 7 people. The itineraries are flexible based on the skill level of the group and the conditions encountered enroute. The nature of riding here is not consistent with a strict schedule dictating a this destination by that day style. Also, as some of the locations have many different side trips and activities, the group might want to disband for a few hours to do different things. Flexibility is the underlying principle of our tours.

Tour #1 - Noel in the Northeast - Dec 23 to Jan 2, 11 days 10 nights

Mekong river route south of Kratie

Leaving Phnom Penh, we will follow the river road to Kompong Cham. Through rubber plantations and rolling hills we'll settle in Mondulkiri province for a couple days of riding and relaxing. Heading north we'll challenge our abilities on the always demanding "road" to Rattanikiri. Exploring volcanic lakes and gem mines are just a few of the many attractions of this province. Then on to Stung Treng province to see what the new year brings. Challenging but rewarding.

Tour #2 -Preah Vihear Temple - Jan 10 to Jan 17, 8 days 7 nights

Preah Vihear

Starting early we're off to Kompong Thom province, home to many pre-Angkorian ruins. Then north to a stop at Preah Khan temple, and onto Tbend Meanchey town. Further north is the mountain temple of Preah Vihear on the Thai border. Next stop is Anlong Veng, an old stronghold of the Khmer Rouge. Heading west to Samroang we visit some ruins and seldom seen sights enroute to Sisophon. Then to Battambang, Cambodia's 3rd largest city, we take in the sights before meandering back to Phnom Penh. Much riding, many temples, lots of laughs.

Tour #3 - The Southeast Loop - Jan 25 to Jan 29, 5 days 4 nights

Bokor Casino

We will depart south for Kompong Trach, passing through toothy Karst formations until reaching the sleepy seaside towns of Kep and Kampot. Many side trips are possible including the notorious, bone grinding ride up to the Bokor hilltop plateau situated 1000 meters above the Gulf of Thailand. Circumnavigating the Damrei mountains we eventually return to town through Kompong Seila and Kompong Speu provinces.

Tour #4 - Siem Reap - Feb 12 to Feb 20, 9 days 8 nights

Ta Prohm temple at Angkor Wat

This ride takes us on a loop of the great Tonle Sap lake. An early departure from Phnom Penh and we're off to Battambang province travelling through Kompong Chhnang and Pursat provinces. Our next port of call is Siem Reap. This province will be our base for these nights. There are unlimited things to see and do here. Leaving Siem Reap we'll decide which way we want to ride to Kompong Thom province. Definitely fun to be had by all.

Tour #5 - Cambodia's 3 borders - Mar 3 to Mar 14 - 13 days 12 nights

Bousra waterfall near Sen Monorom

This is the trip of the year. Matt Jacobson, author of Adventure Cambodia (soon to be renamed Ultimate Cambodia), helped us plan this trip. We will be covering many provinces and riding on alot of Cambodia's diverse road surfaces. Not to be missed. Please contact us for details.

Before You Ride, What to Bring, What to Expect...

  • First and foremost, bring a sense of humor. This is most definitely adventure travel and while you will be pampered with the best accomodation and food available enroute, snags are inevitable and the best weapon to combat them is a light hearted attitude.
  • Our groups are limited to 7 people or less. This keeps the tour more fun and trouble free.
  • We encourage a ride with a buddy system to minimize problems enroute.
  • Show up at least a day early. This will give you time to sort out gear and get over jet-lag.
  • Previous riding experience is manditory. You will be contacted for a brief interview shortly after booking your tour.
  • Because it's the law a license is also manditory. An international drivers license qualifies, and a cambodian license can be obtained if you have your local license with you.
  • Proper riding gear is recommended especially boots. Stumps hidden by tall grass can break a foot in a heartbeat.
  • Helmets are manditory and quality lids are available here for $25 - $40.
  • In the wet season rain gear is advisable. Poncho's are available in any market for $10 and are very good at keeping the wet out. A 20 liter river bag is a very good piece of luggage for keeping clothes and electronics dry and dust free, regardless of the season.
  • Small utility items such as multi-tools, headlamps, etc can be very useful. Tools for bigger bike issues will be carried enroute.
  • Packing light, less than 10kg or so will make your ride much easier and more enjoyable.
  • The bikes we use, from Honda XR 250's and Suzuki DRZ 400's are the best available in the country and are meticulously maintained by American aircraft mechanics. If those are unavailable for any reason, high quality bikes from an English shop are used as a backup.
  • On the tour you will pay your own gas. You can expect to pay around $15 to $20 per day.
  • Comfortable accomodation will be supplied and will include aircon when available and all the necessary amenities to ensure comfort after a long day in the saddle.

Health Stuff

  • Safe, bottled water is available everywhere we go but disinfecting tablets can be useful if you are without bottled water for an extended period.
  • Electrolyte replacements such as "Royal D" are available here and are very good at combating the effects of dehydration and electrolyte loss. It also tastes pretty good.
  • "Cipro" (ciprofloxacin) is a commonly available broad spectrum antibiotic that is very effective against "Asian Gut" which can affect some people new to the local food. Immodium is also commonly available and has its obvious uses.
  • A first aid kit will be carried by the group leader so you are not required to carry one yourself.
